Adaptive reuse multifamily construction in the Chatham Arch Historic District

Craft Construction Management delivered the Arch at Chatham, a boutique adaptive reuse multifamily project in one of Indianapolis's oldest neighborhoods. Located at 617 E North Street inside the Chatham-Arch National Register Historic District, the building was originally constructed in 1890 as St. Joseph's Hall. Our team carefully preserved the stunning arched wood beams and exposed masonry that give the property its name, pairing original 19th-century craftsmanship with the unit counts and finishes today's renters expect.

Chatham Arch sits on the northeast edge of downtown Indianapolis, bounded by I-65, College Avenue, East Street, and North Street, and is served by the Indianapolis Cultural Trail. That walkable, mixed-use character drove a design that honors historic guidelines while adding the amenities of modern downtown Indy living.

What we built

Restoration-focused Indianapolis general contracting on a landmark 54-acre historic district parcel — exposed original beams, brick, and hardwood floors preserved; modern MEP, life safety, and residential finishes added. The result is a property that delivers the "cosmopolitan atmosphere" local press has described while meeting current multifamily code.
