Historic adaptive reuse restaurant on the edge of Mass Ave

Union 50 sits at 620 N East Street in an original Indianapolis rail-era building, one block off the Mass Ave Cultural Arts District. Craft Construction Management delivered this adaptive reuse hospitality project for Cunningham Restaurant Group, converting raw historic volume into a destination restaurant with an open kitchen, performance stage, and a bar program built around locally distilled spirits.

As an Indianapolis restaurant contractor with deep experience on Mass Ave hospitality, our scope covered structural re-skinning, MEP upgrades, custom millwork, specialty acoustics for live performance, and exterior façade restoration — phased so the ribbon-cutting landed on schedule.

Adaptive reuse projects live or die on the coordination between architect, owner, equipment vendor, and trades. We ran weekly punchlist and submittal reviews so the Union 50 concept — food, live music, and private-event programming — could open into a finished space without the usual shakedown period.
